Gary Young, director of Northeastern University’s Center for Health Policy and Healthcare Research, is doing his part to tackle a question that’s been plaguing the country for years: How do we treat people suffering from opioid use disorder? In 2020, roughly 2.7 million people in the United States struggled with it. While the pursuit of treatment varies across geography, one study suggested a 50-60% discontinuation rate during the first 12 months.
